Multi-Facility Secure Facility
Confidential Location
SPG was contracted by a large government contracting systems integrator, (confidential client) to support a multi-facility secure facility design-build project in support of several national security programs. This multi-facility environment included several buildings of multiple floors requiring full design-build of an Intelligence Community Directive, (ICD) 705 compliant Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility, (SCIF) in excess of 100,000-SF. Additionally, this customer had several existing SCIFs requiring ‘upgrades’ from legacy national security policies to current ICD 705 standards. The SPG Team supporting this large effort consisted of both ICD 705 and SCIF Construction Subject Matter Experts. SPG was integral partner from early conception and planning efforts, through multiple room, floor, and building design reviews, to the actual construction with general contractor and secure construction administration/management responsibilities.
The client’s early engagement with SPG played a critical role in all secure facility areas receiving full accreditation during final inspection by the government Accrediting Official, (AO) at the planned milestone dates in each project schedule. Additionally, through SPG’s ongoing engagement with the AO during design phases, material costs were reduced through the negotiation of alternative less expensive, yet still ICD 705-compliant countermeasures that were eventually approved by the AO.
SPG have been excellent partners throughout our entire SCIF planning, design, and build process. I’d never done anything construction related (much less SCIF construction related) in my life–but after working closely with SPG throughout this process and learning every single day from their subject matter experts, I can hold my own in conversations I never expected to be able to have. I consider each member of the SPG team an incredibly valuable mentor.
